“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” – Psalm 33:12
The American flag: The stars is a symbol of the heavens and the stripes is symbolic of the rays of light. The flag became known as Old Glory. White signifies purity and innocence, red, hardiness and valor, and blue, signifies vigilance, perseverance and justice.
The first official flag, also known as Stars & Stripes, was approved by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. The first American flag had thirteen stars representing the original 13 colonies, now commonly known as the “Betsy Ross Flag.” The 50 stars represent the fifty states. The flag stands for freedom and democracy. It represents the unity of America, our common cause, and the hope for a better tomorrow. May God continue to bless, heal, and protect America, land of the free.
The Bible says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
Prayer: Lord, we humble ourselves before You today and ask Your forgiveness of our sins, our personal sins, and our sins as a Nation, help us turn from our wicked ways, and turn to You by seeking Your face each day, then, You have promised You will hear from heaven, and forgive our sin and heal our land. Lord, please heal our land! In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower, (Rep.) encouraged Congress to add the words “under God,” creating the 31-word pledge we say today.
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all.”
The Christian Flag was designed in the early 20th century to represent all of Christianity and has been most popular among protestant churches in North America, Africa, and Latin America. The flag has a white field, with a red Latin cross inside a blue canton.
We can praise God because the Lord Jesus Christ has set us free. He died and shed His precious blood for each of us at the cross at Calvary and forgives our sins. But, He did not stay on the cross, He was buried, and God raised Him from the dead on the third day. We praise God for the power of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. Jesus is coming back again to bring His Church out of this world back to Himself. Thank You Jesus for Your love sacrifice for us all and for Your return to earth for us. You are worthy of all praise!
“For you, brothers, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” – Galatians 5:13-14
Prayer: Lord, help us love and serve one another in the love of Christ. Amen.
