The Song of Silent Night

The most widely recorded song  in all of history was created because an organ malfunctioned in a tiny village in Austria, according to legend. Because the priest couldn’t have a Christmas service without music, he prayed for a solution, then remembered a poem he had written. After finding it he raced to his friend and begged him to write music to go with the words. Inspiration came and on Christmas Eve, 1818, “Silent Night” debuted.
