The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word rapture as, “a feeling of intense pleasure or joy.” The word rapture is not found in the Bible. However, the Bible does talk about a pre-tribulation rapture or in the Greek translated is harpazo, which means to snatch or take away. The rapture of the church means the carrying away of the church from earth to heaven. The Greek word from this term “rapture” is derived appears in 1 Thessalonians 4:17, translated “caught up.”
God’s Word says in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, “Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.”
It does not matter when this glorious event will take place, whether 10, 20, 50, or 100+ plus from now. But, “with these words”, is how the Lord wants us to be encouraged and have hope in Him as we await this most wonderful heavenly bliss, the pre-tribulation rapture of the Church, for believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. Some may believe in a mid-trib or even a post-trib. Regardless, the Lord is coming back for His church first, and then His second coming after the tribulation period. The Bible clearly speaks of these two great events. In Matthew 24:36 it says, “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
This will happen in a twinkling of an eye. 1 Corinthians 15:52, “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.” Amen!
Oh, what glorious day this will be for all believers in Jesus! Christians should continue to live godly lives in an ungodly world until the Lord’s return to the Church by the rapture, and seven years later, after the tribulation period, Jesus will return to earth on His second coming where every eye will see Him. Revelation 1:7 says, “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. We do not need to fear this event as God is good and has everything organized in His timeline. It will be a most thrilling and wonderful moment in history for the Church.
What to do if you do not make the Rapture. Do not panic. Stay still and in faith cry out to God and call upon the Lord Jesus and tell Him you are sorry that you did not believe in Him before and repent of your sins and your unbelief. Ask God to forgive you and invite Jesus in your heart and life! Trust Jesus and live for Him. He will come for you on His second coming when He returns in power and glory.
“At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. Mark 13:26.
Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.
Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus that You are coming again, at the Rapture of the Church and at Your second return, the Second Coming of Christ, both with power and glory. Amen!
