From our youth most of us would like to know what God’s will is for our lives. The Bible speaks about this clearly. If we are praying and trusting God in our every day the Lord has promised to lead us. You might be asking yourself, “Where should I go to college?” or “Who should I date?” or “How will I identify my spouse-to-be someday?” God knows the desires of your heart. He knows what tickles you and what doesn’t. He knows everything about you.
God’s will for you is to believe Him, trust Him, pray to Him, please Him, and live for Him. When you are in God’s will you will have His perfect peace. Let’s read what the Bible says about God’s will in three of many other scripture passages:
Romans 12:2 reads, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
We need to be “transformed by renewing our mind” We cannot think as the world thinks. We need to surrender our will to the Father so that His good and perfect will to be done in our lives.
Jesus always surrendered His will to the Father and this is what He wants for us to do too. Let’s read what 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 says: “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality, that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.”
Wow, God made it very clear in this scripture speaking of our relationship with the opposite sex. If you are in a relationship you need to be praying and thinking deeply about your relationship with Christ. Is your boyfriend or girlfriend a believer and follower of Jesus? If they are this is great. However, if they are not, then, you have a problem. You need to realize you are not in God’s will because the Lord God, your heavenly Father would not want you to be with someone that is unequally yoked.
2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1: “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty.” Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
Our heavenly Father has spoken clearly and beautifully for our protection. May the Lord bless you and guide your every step as you follow Jesus in obedience in making the right decisions in your present relationship and for your life. Allow yourself space and time and devote yourself to prayer as you seek your heavenly Father’s good and perfect will for your life. This is how God will reveal His good will for your life.
God’s blessings upon you.
