MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
The three gifts of the wise men, also known as Magi followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to Baby Jesus. The three gifts of the wise men gold, frankincense, and myrrh carried prophetic meanings symbolizing Jesus role as a king, priest and savior.
Gold is associated with royalty and was a gift given to kings around the time of Christ’s birth. The wise men’s first gift of gold symbolized Jesus’ role as the King of kings.
Frankincense was a type of incense burned as a sacrifice and used by priests during services of worship around the time of Christ’s birth. The wise men’s gift of frankincense symbolized Jesus priesthood.
Myrrh. During the time of Jesus birth, the Jews used myrrh as an embalming ointment when preparing bodies for burial. The wise men’s gift of myrrh prophetically signified Jesus was born to suffer and die. It also symbolized His burial.
Jesus was born King of kings to be our high priest and to die for our sins.
Jesus is on His throne interceding for us and He forgives our sins each time we come to Him in prayer to ask His forgiveness. Jesus is just a prayer away…praise His holy name.
